What We Offer

Consultancy Services

Independent, owner-focused expertise across every phase of a refit — from initial survey to final sea trial.

01

Refit Project Management

We take full responsibility for coordinating every aspect of your refit — defining the scope of work, selecting and managing yards and subcontractors, controlling costs, and keeping the project on schedule. You receive regular written reports and have a single point of contact throughout.

Private owners, absentee owners, and anyone undertaking a major refit without the time or technical background to manage it directly.

Deliverables

  • Scope of work document
  • Yard and contractor selection
  • Budget and schedule management
  • Weekly progress reports
  • Punch list and final acceptance
02

Technical Surveys

Our surveys go beyond the checklist. We assess structural integrity, mechanical and electrical systems, rig and sails, safety equipment, and cosmetic condition — producing a clear, prioritized report that gives you the information you need to make confident decisions.

Buyers, sellers, insurers, and owners planning a refit or seeking a baseline condition assessment.

Deliverables

  • Full written survey report
  • Prioritized defect list
  • Cost estimates for remediation
  • Photographic documentation
  • Insurance-ready format
03

Yard Supervision

We place an experienced consultant on-site at the yard to monitor workmanship, enforce your specifications, and ensure the work matches what was quoted and contracted. We catch problems before they become expensive — and we speak the language of yards and tradespeople.

Owners who cannot be present at the yard, or who want independent oversight of a yard relationship.

Deliverables

  • Daily or weekly on-site presence
  • Workmanship quality control
  • Specification compliance checks
  • Change order review and approval
  • Photographic progress documentation
04

Owner Representation

We act as your representative in dealings with yards, brokers, insurers, and suppliers. We review contracts, negotiate on your behalf, and ensure your interests are protected at every stage — from the first quote to the final invoice.

Owners navigating complex yard relationships, purchase transactions, or insurance claims.

Deliverables

  • Contract review and negotiation
  • Supplier and yard vetting
  • Insurance liaison
  • Dispute resolution support
  • Final invoice audit
05

Pre-Purchase Consultation

Buying a yacht is a significant investment. We help you evaluate candidates objectively — reviewing listings, attending viewings, commissioning surveys, and advising on realistic refit costs — so you buy with confidence and without surprises.

First-time buyers and experienced owners entering a new size or type of vessel.

Deliverables

  • Vessel shortlist review
  • Pre-purchase survey coordination
  • Refit cost assessment
  • Negotiation support
  • Completion and delivery oversight
06

Refit Planning & Specification

Before a single tool is picked up, we work with you to define exactly what the refit should achieve — translating your goals into a detailed specification that yards can quote against accurately. This eliminates scope creep, protects your budget, and sets clear expectations for all parties.

Owners planning a significant refit who want to approach yards with a professional brief.

Deliverables

  • Refit goals workshop
  • Detailed written specification
  • Tender package for yard quotes
  • Quote comparison and analysis
  • Recommended yard shortlist

Client Perspectives

What Owners Say

“Barba Maritime saved us from what would have been a very costly mistake. Their pre-purchase survey identified structural issues the seller's broker had glossed over. We renegotiated the price and had the work done properly before delivery.”

J. Hartwell1978 Sparkman & Stephens 54 — Caribbean

“Having an independent consultant on-site at the yard changed everything. The quality of work improved immediately, the schedule was respected, and we came in under budget. I won't do another refit without them.”

M. Fontaine2009 Oyster 56 — Mediterranean refit

“The refit specification they produced was worth every penny before we even started. Yards were quoting apples to apples for the first time, and we knew exactly what we were getting.”

R. & S. Caldwell1965 Feadship 82 — Northern Europe
